About the Open Government Partnership

The Open Government Partnership is a multilateral initiative with 70 participating countries, which voluntarily adopt commitments for promoting transparency, empowering citizens, fighting corruption, and harnessing new technologies to strengthen governance. Each country delivers a two-year National Action Plan (NAP) which is co-created with civil society actors.

Chile submitted a letter of intent for joining OGP in 2011 and has fully implemented two NAPs (2012-2013 and 2014-2016). Chile has created a third NAP (2016-2018) in collaboration with the civil society organizations of the OGP-Chile Permanent Working Group. It was officially published in October 2016 and is currently being implemented.

Participation in OGP enables the exchange of valuable experiences and best practices between member countries. Chile contributes to the Partnership with its own experience in the implementation of open government laws and mechanisms, especially in the Americas region and with the OECD context.
